Retrofitting of factory options in the UK

if you want to add an option you never got at the factory or is missing from your car such as...

Mobile Phone Installation / Retrofit
Universal Handy Interface (UHI)
Upgrade to Linguatronic Voice Control
Integrated Garage Door Opener
Heated Seats Retrofit
Folding Mirrors Retrofit

Then there is hope, a lot of southern UK dealers use this company apparently...

Ron, you have to take the plunge and change to the MP3 compatible changer as we mentioned ages ago, two variants exist, MP3 compatible and non MP3 compatible, both have been fitted to the R171 depending on which territory you are in and when your car was built.

I would like them to retrofit the vario roof thingy integrated in the key. I'll call them to see if they can do that.

If you are talking about the Infra-red factory option, why don't you just get the radio based aftermarket module. Its a lot better in terms of range etc.

I'm inclined to try it ... but do we know anyone who has added it and voila! suddenly they have MP3? I had the impression that it was kind of a theory. For something like $700, it's a bit risky ...

not unless you ordered option 880 (remote control roof operation integrated into key), and even then you have to point it directly at an infrared sensor built into the door handle.

,,, anissut - the vario roof from key option works off IR - line of sight (and very close up) - just wait for one of the rf roof modules to work, then get that - it is THE most wanted, must have gizmo ....

RE: Retrofitting of factory options in the UK

Must admit have seen them advertised in Mercedes Enthustist magazine, and am tempted to see what retrofits they offer for the radio ... Also a good excuse to have a week off work and take a bit of a holiday down south!!!!
