'98 S500 - B Pillar Discoloration?

I've noticed that my B pillar (between the front and rear door) seems to be discolored or faded. It has sort of a purplish tinge and I've seen a similar effect on other W140s. Is this a common aging defect? What was the original color? Any remedies to restore it to new?

well, any type of car polish should hopefully help it a little bit. If not, maybe you could get that part resprayed, or somehow touched up with Mercedes-Benz Paint. What color is your car? If you want the factory paint color's name, you can type in your VIN here, and it should give you a list of the features/options on your particular car, and the paint code.

It is a Mercedes-Benz VIN Decoder:

Hope this helps. Let us know how it works out...
