| W124 diesel engine possibilities ... a question!
Hi All,
I've just 'landed' here from the G-Class forum and have the following question;
As I understand the 300GD (OM 603) 6 cylinder diesel engine in my 1990 W463 is related to the diesel engines in the different types of W124s. Anybody here who can give me a list of possible diesel engines that were put into the W124. Preferably including the engine code(s) such as OM 60.. D .. A etc.

OM603.912 were used as non turbo in W124, also used were 603.960 ( turbo version , 603.913 in the 4 matic , 603.963 in turbo 4matic, and 606.910 ( 4 valve engine )

Good Day.
Better late than never?
My 1985 w460 G has been retrofitted with a factory turbo diesel out of a post 1988 W124. It is a 602.962 engine which is a 2.5 litre 5 cylinder turbo diesel. (1988 - 1992?)
Also one of my friends is driving a stock w124 with the 4 cylinder diesel out of the factory. He imported this himself from Germany. I think it is a W124 with the model designation 200D.
I did a search a while back on a European website and got cross references for all Mercedes engine combinations from the factory. I forget the site name but I did print up the relevant parts for me. Try searching for 'Mercedes Engine serial numbers'
Reading from my list...This list included the following diesels for W124s.
601.912 (a 200D model) ?non turbo?
602.912 (a 250D non turbo model)
602.962 (a 250D turbo model)
603.912 (a 300D non turbo model)
603.960 (a 300D turbo model)
603.913 (a 300D non turbo 4matic model)
603.963 (a 300D turbo 4matic model)
