Photo DIY- Rear Sway Bar Link/Bushing R/R

Well, I guess this one is a "Whoops" Sorta' Moment in Life...

While performing the Brake Overhaul on the "Queen", I noticed the Left Rear Sway-Bar Link was, Literally, MISSING!!

Perhaps it is one of those psychological phenomenon where if the Brain does not SEE it, it does not register it.

Where I made my GREATEST Error, though, was not listening to my "Inner-Voice" telling me to Take the Car out of Service until I fixed the part. Unfortunately, my #2 son (who recently got his driver's permit) was really wanting to drive the S for the first time, and my wife wanted the "Yakuza" wagon back. Soooooo, I Caved-in, and placed the car back into service thinking "It's *JUST* a Sway bar link".....

As you can see from the first pic, the absence of a Sway-Bar caused severe damage, and yielded ALOT of work for me to fix. Since the CV Joint was knocking against the Suspension Links, it destroyed the Outer CV Joint & Boot. In the process, it must have also Taken out the Inner CV Joint, as well. Since I had not been driving the car, I was not aware there was any abnomal sounds.

Anyhooo, no crying over spilled milk, until I looked into Replacing the Half-Axle..... YIKES!! Really Expensvie!! Since the "Queen" has 180,000 Miles under her belt, I thought, "Why would I put a NEW, Expensive Axle". Sooo, I found a nice Low-Mileage (50K) Shaft for $38 bucks!! Sure beats $1,100!!

Since I already had the Overhaul/Repair set, I opted to Dismantle the Doner Shaft to Inspect, and RE-Grease with Fresh Grease.

I followed WIS which is probably overkill, but since I'm a Nooob at this Job, I opted to follow their Instructions.

Please be very careful, as some parts are heavy (ie. Exhaust).
