iNeon Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Re: Tell me about: E 36 Is this the 5 class or 3 class? the 3s are adorable from the 80s, but BMWs in general are so... umm... foreign... and stupid as compared to their Benz contemporaries. The consoles look like crap, the dashboards are too big, the buttons(they are not toggle switches, but pushbuttons) are big and chunky, but they don't seem to work as well as MB's switches and the cars mechanical bits seem less robust. I have never even ridden in one, but I know that from my trips to the "european" section at the u pull it yard that bmws DO NOT age as well as MBs of the same vintage. That said, they may be a more sporting drive, I don't know. I'm a Benz guy 1st, a Chrysler guy 2nd and a VW guy 3rd... I don't need no stinkin' Bimmer.

They really aren't bad cars at all but I still prefer MB overall. If you ever get a chance to buy one at a good price, give it a chance.

Dahappybanana Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Re: Tell me about: E 36 Well a W124 AMG would certainly be rare. Remember that back during the days of the W124 that AMG was not an in house tuner, they did modifications to care after they had been purchased. The 500E is in no way AMG unless AMG modified it, but the 500E as it rolled off the line was not an AMG.

Before that you could have AMG tuned 124:s, the 300 as 3.0, 3.2 and 3.4 l. The E36 came as Coupé, Cab and Estate, not Sedan other than some RHD cars. They had 260-272 hp, sport suspension and larger brakes. Aerodynamic kit was optional. Top speed limited to 250 km/h, 0-100 in about 6-7 seconds. Very rare and nice cars. I have an E36 AMG Coupé from 1994, and maybe I can manage to get a picture in.... didn´t work though so you just have my G-class below showing at this point...
