Not the odometer, the speedo... look at the calibration.  It's not consistent!

I think you're right.  The coupe is more well-proportioned.

I saw on TopGear that the Aston DB9 roadster has a speed-limiter setting about 20mph lower than the coupe--they're afraid the higher speeds would shred the canvas top!

I think I might know why the increments are that way. I'll have to use the S65 AMG cluster as a better example though (and damn aren't those pictures of the S65 nice, I love the W220).

If you look at how they're set up, the usable range, 0-80 or 100, is set wide apart. This is because, well, that's how fast we drive under normal circumstances. Makes it much easier to read the speedometer.

Another thing which I'm just throwing out there is the speed at which the speedometer needle climbs. From 0-100+ there's little drag that can hold the 6.0L engine back. But once you reach above that, drag slows down acceleration significantly, so the speedometer needle moves much slower. Setting the increments at higher speeds much closer together would mean at WOT the needle going from 100-150+ would go at almost the same speed as 0-100, giving you the sensation that you're not slowing down.
