VWBusMan1 Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Fuel mixing.... Have been experimenting with mixing fuels in my diesel including yet not limited to; gasoline (up to 5%), kerosene (up to 10%), veggie oil (up to 50%), waste oil(up to 10%) and etc. None seem to make any difference. Here's a crazy idea: Farmers for years have been adding fertilizer (high nitrate) to diesel to remove stumps, blow rocks and etc. What about adding just a tad to my diesel fuel? If it was done in reason wouldn't that give me more power/economy? Mercedes is adding uric acid (nitrates?) downstream in their new Bluetech with I think better combustion in mind. Of course I wonder where the uric acid has to come from or does one wee in a tank at fill-up? Just some thoughts crossing my mind yet I'd love a real response, thanks, Mark

I add about a gallon and a half to a full tank of diesel. A little RUG is good with the WVO, and kerosene is good when it’s cold (not a problem for me.)

They will actually have an on-board tank to dispense it Needs replacing at some long-term interval.. I believe it's next year's 50-State version btw

Do you filter if a bit before pouring it in? Does it smoke horribly? Your pre filter and main filter must get dirty in a hurry. Mark

Sounds like you really enjoy abusing your engine. Let's hope you don't decide to get another one to abuse when this one dies.

Of course I wonder where the uric acid has to come from or does one wee in a tank at fill-up? They do not use uric acid, they use urea which is man made from ammonia and carbon dioxide. It also does not affect combustion in any way. It's injected into the catalytic converter to increase it's efficiency in removing NOx from the exhaust fumes.

VWBusMan1 Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Re: Fuel mixing.... Would never have added enough to cause a blow up. Interestingly enough, Sunoco or Shell is now adding Nitrogen to fuel to improve performance--all I was trying to do. Will be interested to see if this catches on with the other major oil companies. However, ignorance will probably prevent most from understanding even elementary chemistry and hence the benefit. Happy motoring!
