I am talking of the S class 320 cdi 2004 model which as I understand can be a problem on these cars? any comments would be welcome as I am on the verge of purchasing one :-)

Best bet is to, once and a while, climb underneath with a plastic crochette needle and gently insert into all three drain nipples and drag gently out along with debris. If the drain is plugged it will allow floorpan to retain water that finds it's way into vehicle. A little squirt of light oil up in each helps keep those rubbers supple as well.
