Hello Gentlemen

Hi guys,

I posted some pics in the 'vintage" forum, but now I found this one for 116's. I'm very new to the world of Mercedes so I'm eager to learn all I can. I currently own a 1980 450SEL. It's pretty much stock minus a few small upgrades (Pioneer stereo, K&N air filter, and an oversized Mangnaflow exhaust). I'm looking for some stylish wheels for it and am having a heck of a time finding anything. I particularly like the AMG Monoblock design, but can't find those either. I'll probably end up going to the 16" 92-style wheels if I can't find anything good that'll fit and make the car look nice. I'm not interested in "pimping" it, but it would be nice to turn it into a nice cruiser with a few minor modern touches.

Here are some pics. If anyone has some good suggestions for wheels, let me know. I'm enjoying the car a lot so it's going to be tough selling it this summer. In the meantime, I want to make sure she's as happy as can be.

Bob

RE: Hello Gentlemen

I used to own the twin of that car, unless the VIN happens to end in 099612?

Re: Hello Gentlemen

JR...nope VIN is something like 628. I'll double check, but if memory serves me right, that's not it. I just sent the car out for paint today too. Re-spraying it, re-covering the front seats and new pads. Just put Monoblock replica wheels on it (17X7.5) and will clean up the chrome a bit more while it's out. I'll post new pics once I get it back in a couple of weeks. Then, I'll put it back up for sale.
Hate to do it...it really kills me to get rid of her, but I'm going to need to liquidate some toys soon. More to follow....

RE: Hello Gentlemen

A few pics of the current "work in progress".... heh heh.

So far the list is as follows:
Mechanical work (timing chain, cold-start valve, distributor cap'n'rotor, belts)
Body: New paint, new chrome, new front seat covers, custom armrest cover, window seals, window tint, tail light seals, etc.

More pics to follow when I have her all put back together....
