1993 300 SL

One of my friends just purchased a one owner 300 SL with 28,400 miles on it. The car is in exceptional shape. Silver with gray leather. It has Michlein tires with 75% tread left. He is asking me for suggestions for new tires. Any advice?

Why does he want to switch them?
And what are his priorities: tread life, handling, grip, comfort, quiet etc...

I've been using Yokohama Avid 4+ on mine, but only because I can't afford the Michelins. Michelin is the OEM for these cars.

Is your friends car one of the rare manual transmission cars?

Standard tranny. I think tread life is what we are looking for here. My advice was to stick with Michelin. He is an attorney and I doubt there will be any high speed performance issues.
