For sale in Costa Rica

Hi Guys,

have been lurking over here for a while and am still deciding on what MB model to purchase. So far I have a 1986 280GE but want a TD sedan. Found this one here in Costa Rica. They are asking 2500 USD. Its a 1987 300SDL with 325k miles on it. What do you think? What should I look out for.
Thx Rgds
Mike

RE: For sale in Costa Rica

One thing to be very careful of on the 86-87 300SDL's is the cylinder head. If the head has a part number with 14 in it then avoid, avoid, avoid. The part number with 17 in it is improved. Eventually the 14 heads crack and must be replaced. If you are looking at a 14 head with over 300K miles the I would recommend you take a pass on it.

Here is an interesting discussion on the topic:

Ignore this post. I'm now forced to leave a message in the wrong link.
