If only I could figure out what values they have used inside those O2 sensor upgrades.. Is this not a diode, increasing the voltage by0.7v?? http://www.autodirectsave.com/prod/Custom/Performance_Parts/Perform... ![]()

BenzDieselTuner Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Re: Performance chip and plug for $99 ?? on the 2.6 and 3.0 liter machines in the 124 series, there is a resistor that when removed or having its value changed, it adjust ignition timing, increasing power......u NEED to be running on Premium fuel to do this......... that must be what its for i'd bet........ EDIT: i read up on it, thats not what it is.........it may or may not work like they describe, i dont know..... Edited by BenzDieselTuner 6/11/2007 1:22 PM

Looks like it just fools the ECU to think the inlet air temperature is different, thereby the factory ECU just changes the maps to suit. Crude however effective, more of what I would call a band-aid performance tune. IMHO if you want a W124 with more power buy you'd be better off with a 500E or a Hammer. A W124 is probably the best designed passenger car ever created, and that includes the base factory tune. If some guy with a soldering iron reckons he knows better than a team of proven, highly skilled German Engineers, let him go right ahead - but I'm keeping my car as close to OEM as possible.

FYI, I went out and had a GOOD look at the car, I remmbered there was a small adjusting Bosch Multi-turn Potentiometer between the firewall and the engine bay. I pulled it out and measured the values: 1K ohm across the POT, and it was set to 805 ohm (or 195 ohm) whichever way you read it. I adjusted it to 900 ohm (100 ohm) today and tried it.. Horrible, so turned it back to 835 ohm and it ran better. I have set it to 775ohm for the next journey, will let you know.. PS I had to set this one once before (by ear) when the air mass sensor was replaced.
