But the trucks and busses and vans and the like were separate Daimler-Benz enterprises; the Mercedes-Benz cars were something special, whether you’re a snob like me looking for something prestigious or a Greek taxi driver looking to make a living. Threads/discussions like this always bum me out – which is why I say they don’t make Mercedes-Benz automobiles anymore.

It’s like Jed Clampit gets an M because it will hold his still and fixins

They wanted an SUV/Minivan and saw an affordable way to get an MB one.. True Mercedes conoisseurs will probably always look askance at the ML;

jdc1244 Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: Your Least Favorite MB ? Marsden - 6/25/2006 10:51 PM ...whether or not that makes them snobs is for someone else to decide... I think if every MB enthusiast is honest with himself there’s a tiny, little touch of snob somewhere inside. Not that you think you’re better or anything but that you’ve tried to cultivate good taste, you appreciate certain things, and that’s reflected in tangible aspects of your life such as the car you drive.

BenzDieselTuner Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: Your Least Favorite MB ? KylePavao - 6/22/2006 10:30 PM Bah the oil burners are the best. They just prove the moral of the tortoise and the hare: slow and steady wins the race :biggrin: At least this is true here, I hardly see any 280E's or 280CE's, but tons of diesels. Same with W116 450SEL's. Hardly no 380SEL's, but tons of 300SD's. And the W123 wagons are a thing of beauty! I'd love to get my hands on a Euro 240TD 5 speed, make it in a wacky old school color like mint green or "Dutch Football Orange" please I am not a huge fan of the 190 series either. They aren't bad, but the base model engine is nothing special. The 2.3 doesn't even put out a lot of power, yet it's gas mileage is nothing spectacular, and it drinks premium. Also I suppose if they are well maintained they are reliable, but I have seen many with warped heads, headgasket issues, and hydraulic valve lifter issues as well. What is the point? My Subaru took 87 and would roast my friends 190 in a straight line. Embarassing. The 2.6 makes some sense, and I sure do like the 190D 2.5 Turbo I also agree that the early ML's are pretty goofy looking, and terribly unreliable to boot. However, the new body style is ok. For me definitely the C230 Kompressor Sport Coupe AWFUL! i would LOVE to get my hands on an AMG C-Klasse SportCoupe...............its powered by a CDI !!!!!!!!!!!! and its the fastest one of those cars...........
