Where are the W211 owners?

I am running out of things to add to this forum. The next few weeks are going to be quiet from my perspective since I have some maintenance to do on other cars in the family. Hopefully, other members will find the time to contribute to this PointedThree W211 forum.

Not a W211 owner, but what would you like to talk about? W211's are one of my favorite Benzes. IMO, probably the nicest interior of the whole lineup.

Re: Where are the W211 owners?

I have loved the w211 style for along time and I finally talked my parents into getting an E350. Ill post some ML and E pictures when I have time but it will be a while I am going out of town for a week. I guess I can participate here lol I usually drive the E once a week and I did have to teach my parents how to use everything on it.

Looks like you missed out on the Lighting package. Nice though. What color is it again?

Out of 30 E classes they only had 2 of them that had lighting package but the halogen projectors seem brighter than on the ML I dont know if that is because in the E class you are lower to the ground and it just seems that way.

The car is Flint grey( I think that is what they call it but I prefer to call it dark silver) with charcoal interior. Really good looking color when the car is clean but after a few days it gets a layer of dust on it.

I forgot to add the 2 cars that had lighting package both where black and that is a no no where we live.

So how many E class owners do we have now? If all goes well I might join the E class club with one of my own soon. Going next weekend to try and work out a lease deal.

RE: Where are the W211 owners?

Andrew!  Really?  I almost missed what you said here.

I love the E, lately I've been thinking it's the best sedan ever made, all told.

BUT you're so young and single, and it seems a bit conservative for you, no?

Everyone keeps saying that.. I honestly love the car, its one of my favorite cars. I think a car is a reflection on the person and think the E class is a perfect reflection of me. I like nice quiet relaxed driving, I honestly feel like a trad driving the M3 around people look at me strange and kids stare when I pull into the parking garage, I cant even drive with the windows down since I am bound to run into some retard that will say something out of jealousy and not to mention everything from a pickup truck to a mini van tries to race you in it. And I get labeled as a prick for driving an M3 without having to speak people are just very judgmental its only human nature. I think an E class will be a lot less of an attention getting car for me and I will make sure to get dark tint on it so no one can see me driving it. I really dont like to show off when driving but I like to have nice cars and enjoy them. Hopefully most people will think the E class is a professors car or something and wont do anything to it right now only 1 other E class is in the garage and its driven by a professor... Anyways ill keep you posted on what I decide to do all my friends say I am retarded for giving up an M3 but to be honest with you guys I hate it and I think all sports cars are over rated.

I am going to the dealer on thursday my father wants me to get the inventory list to see what colors they have, but I still have a choice I can either stay with the M3 or get a CLK350 or E350 ( I think I have settled on the E350 over the CLK350 but I am debating the E350 vs M3). But in the end I am going to do what makes me happy not what other think, most of my driving is done sitting in traffic and I really want a nice car like the E350 to pass the time.

I wish I could show all of you guys what its like to drive an M3 with SMG in traffic it is the worst experience of your life, normally in a 6 speed you can put the clutch in and slow down but SMG its either clutch on clutch off and its very jerky especially when you are going slow.

I LOVE the E-Class. There really is no other car like it. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

RE: Where are the W211 owners?

It has the ride of a high-class luxury car but handles like a high-class sports car.

Hard to beat that, and the icing on the cake is the 32mpg I get at 80mph.

Can any other car in the world beat that trifecta?

Only 1. The E320 CDI. It does all of that at 38 mpg!

Re: Where are the W211 owners?

You think the E320 Bluetec could match those numbers? I'm sure the .2L loss from the CDI to the Bluetec would save some MPG for weight, but then the added weight for the stuff to meet emissions standards puts it back on.

RE: Where are the W211 owners?

With the premium cost of diesel these days I'm thinking I'm still ahead.

Although I know some of the CDIs have been getting 40mpg on the highway.

Or so they say

Thanks much. Yeah a couple of the photos of the interior in medias res are scary indeed..

Tomorrow I'm getting my steering wheel replaced with the wood & leather one for $900

Who wants a stock steering wheel now? Stone leather, barely used (I drive with no hands )

I may be joining the ranks. Looking at a E320CDI. They are offering 1.9% APR on Certified vehicles. Although I had my heart set on a new G320 CDI, I am tired of waiting and now that I know it is Animals favourite, it cinched the deal. I'll let ya know.

RE: Where are the W211 owners?

Here, but there just isn't anything wrong with my E320. It's only gone back for scheduled service after a couple of minor warranty items in the first few months. Of all the MBs I've had, this one has been the best. I can see why the E is MB's bread & butter car.
