I Want a G.

Hi all- I almost bought a GD last year from some fella in Texas, but got cold feet as I hadn't seen it in person and I have a 2yr old to think about. (Health insurance vs. G-classe. Big toss up.) It was also outfitted with a Biodiesel system. It looked real clean, but had some wreck damage. I got cold feet. Actually expert member Herald had a look at the pix and said he might think about staying away. Anyway - I can't shake the bug.

Problem: I live in cold Boston and I'm a little freaked out about the whole biodiesel thing. Moreover, I'm partly against gas hogs...but I love the G! Finally, I'm a little concerned about highway speed. I am under the impression that these guys only go about 60-65mph comfortably on the highway. Is this true?

I'd love to learn more about these beauties - so I'll see you around as I try to soak up info. BTW - I'd love to keep my aquisition cost under 15K. Am I nuts?

RE: I Want a G.

Probably, but most of us are, where our cars are concerned.

Else we wouldn't be here.

My advice: get a  G and a Prius.  Then you have a vehicle for almost every occasion.

 Or.... an E320 CDI

Er, ahh, welcome fellow Masshole.

If you are going Biodiesel get a system with a fuel heater. Typically works like this:

1) start vehicle in diesel mode
2) Heater in WVO tank heats product to proper temp (165?)
3) Transfer switch automatically switches tanks
4) 1 minute before end of journey, hit transfer switch to purge lines and switch back to regular diesel.
5) Enjoy the smell of french fry exhaust

Thanks guys-

I'm in the process of doing a lot of research. See you around the forum. You guys have any input about the highway speeds?

RE: I Want a G.

That G in Texas was my son's GD that he totaled. Good thing you passed, the FRYBRID system was great and it would have worked fine in Boston. I think you should contact Claytorr on this site he has a G36 that you might like.
