Hi all- I almost bought a GD last year from some fella in Texas, but got cold feet as I hadn't seen it in person and I have a 2yr old to think about. (Health insurance vs. G-classe. Big toss up.) It was also outfitted with a Biodiesel system. It looked real clean, but had some wreck damage. I got cold feet. Actually expert member Herald had a look at the pix and said he might think about staying away. Anyway - I can't shake the bug. Problem: I live in cold Boston and I'm a little freaked out about the whole biodiesel thing. Moreover, I'm partly against gas hogs...but I love the G! Finally, I'm a little concerned about highway speed. I am under the impression that these guys only go about 60-65mph comfortably on the highway. Is this true? I'd love to learn more about these beauties - so I'll see you around as I try to soak up info. BTW - I'd love to keep my aquisition cost under 15K. Am I nuts?

My advice: get a G and a Prius. Then you have a vehicle for almost every occasion.
Or.... an E320 CDI

If you are going Biodiesel get a system with a fuel heater. Typically works like this: 1) start vehicle in diesel mode 2) Heater in WVO tank heats product to proper temp (165?) 3) Transfer switch automatically switches tanks 4) 1 minute before end of journey, hit transfer switch to purge lines and switch back to regular diesel. 5) Enjoy the smell of french fry exhaust

Good thing you passed, the FRYBRID system was great and it would have worked fine in Boston. I think you should contact Claytorr on this site he has a G36 that you might like.
