Sam, thanks for posting the link. Its disgusting, hope the same is not happening at valued MB dealerships...

RE: Jiffy Lube in the News "Is your mechanic cheating"

Happens all the time, I'm afraid.  When I left school my first job was working in a crash-repair garage.  Some of the guys there used to pull all sorts of stunts on the customers.

A very simple one being to have a clean rag with an oily mark on it in your pocket.  While the customer is watching, just take out the rag (which looks clean) rub it along one of the shocks and then show the oily mark to the customer and tell him (or her, women customers were more often the victims of this sort of thing) that the car  has leaky shocks.  "Obviously, we can't just replace one, you'll have to have a pair..."  etc. etc.

I didn't like working there and left after a few months.

Keep your eye on 'em at all times!

That is why I NEVER take anything to any superlube shops, whether it be Jiffy or Express. I change my own oil and do most of my own mechanic work.

I think that I am really lucky, my dealership has always done an awesome job, and just about every time has charged me about 70% of the actual time they spent. I don't think that I have ever had to go back to get the same issue looked at again. I have even showed up, without an appointment, and they have pulled another car (that was not a rush) and slipped mine in!

And it ain't just the states

There was the same type of expose done up here a few years ago - right across the country - something like 60 per cent were cheating -

I spent a lot of money to purchase my MB. The last thing I'm going to do is take it to a place like Jiffy Lube. Always use the dealer or a trusted indy the other customers have vouched for.
