Upper Switch Panel

I looked at the red 240D Ike posted for DieselBurns and noticed the late-style a/c switch only takes up a single switch opening, which would allow me to mount more switches than the 4 my early style a/c rotary switch allows.

Do any of youall know if it is feasable to replace an early switch with the more compact late switch?

I am thinking that it will allow me to finally have all switches in a single place, and leave the console clean and pretty with that giant expanse of wood uncluttered with switches! I really don't want the late style console that looks like something from Star Trek with the bazillion switches in there. However cool buttons are, I've discovered with this one that simplicity is really the key to longevity.

It'd be something like this--

driver seat warmer switch| rear dome switch| headlight level switch| a/c switch| rear defrost switch| passengers seat warmer switch

I'm sure it can be done, but I doubt it's all that cost-effective, since you'd have to rewire abunch of stuff back there.
