fgwinn Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | 27.1 MPG in 2005 E500 4matic On a non-stop trip from Indianapolis to Cleveland I recorded my best MPG since owning the car, 27.1! Overall MPG for the last 10K miles is above 23. According to the window sticker the city/highway MPG rating is 16/20. My tire pressure is normally about 31/33 PSI front/rear. fgwinn Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: 27.1 MPG in 2005 E500 4matic Light traffic at both ends of trip, lowered average speed due to contruction zones, less than normal traffic getting thru Columbus, increased front tire pressure, and non-stop driving all contributed to the better than normal MPG. It was not very windy on this trip, but I did experience significant drop in MPG on a west bound trip of similar length during high winds. I think I got about 21 MPG on that trip.

fgwinn Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: 27.1 MPG in 2005 E500 4matic Same trip in the opposite direction this morning achieved 25.2 MPG with average speed of 65 mph. Speed is probably one of the biggest factors in MPG. Still, 25.2 MPG is very good and well above the window sticker claim of 16/20 city/highway. Some one should file a class action suit to recover all of the Gas Guzzler tax that has been collected on this E500 4Matics with the 5-speed AT.
