Wipers

Does anyone know if the W124 had rain sensing wipers? My wife drove the car into the car wash today and all of sudden the wipers turned themselves on. Since this had never happened before, she turned the car off. When she turned it back on the wipers activated until the windscreen was dry, then turned themselves off. This has ever happened before.

Is there a way to disable this feature for car washes?

OK, so now it started activating without water. Bad switch...have to take apart steering column to get to it. $130 part. Still a lot cheaper than Monica's job, so I splurged on Pirelli P3000's to try and catch up to her.

RE: Wipers

AsianML - Referring to the transmission woes (work order/job/repair) and YES, I was very excited about the prospect of rain sensing wipers!

Monica - $89 each. The dealer I bought the car from put some really cheap no name tire on the car (wrong size too). We had a strange vibration between 30 and 35 mph. My mechanic put the car on the lift drew a dot on the wheel and gave it a spin. The tire was not round.

The Pirellis are nice.
