Erratic Fuel Tank reading

I drove over to the Post Office and noticed I was down by 1/4 tank with only 45 miles on the clock. Strang I thought. Got back in and fired up and the needle had returned to nearly full. Anyone ever have this happen? I parked level each time.

might be a faulty sender in the tank or a 1 time glitch. Havn't heard fo this happening in the W210 before.

RE: Erratic Fuel Tank reading

I recently saw something about corroded sending unit contacts caused by "dirty" fuel. I think it was diesel fuel though. The oil companies were reimbursing customers for $500 in repairs.

Sounds plausible
