AT fluid change at 60000 km???

Anyone hear about an MB Service Information document that says AT fluid should be changed at 60000 km if you have AT 722.6 or 722.9? It's not clear to me if this is once, or a regular interval.

I am not aware of any documentation supporting this.

Intresting, I have looked in three different U.S WIS versions I cant locate that document. Were did you find it ?.
I also did not find any reference to that in the service sheets and maint. manuals. I did find a inspection for vehicles w/ over 143,000 miles.

Specify E500 then go to

Section 00 Overall vehicle ->
Section 00.20 Maintenance, service systems (FSS ASSYSY) ->
Document: Service Information: Automatic transmission fluid change

Also check out Service 20 in attached document (it appears between Services 12 and 13). This document clarifies that the AT fluid change is a one time service.

I checked again and again to be sure. What verson WIS are you using ?
Date/country ? copied version ?
I cant find any document for U.S passanger cars for that service.
Try this on the document tab search = si0020%*(new wis system i.e online) si0020% (old wis system hard drive loaded)
for kicks this should pull up any document starting w/ "si0020 etc....
Ill keep looking.

Service 20 for non-US cars

My local MB dealer says that the 60000 km service to change AT fluid is for non-US cars. I am getting a quote tomorrow and will probbaly have the work scheduled for later this week. I am planning to ask the tech to save a sample of the AT fluid to send in to Blackstone Labs for analysis.

Thats what I figured, I will ask around though. It may have something to do w/ the shorter warranty period in Eur......? who knows maybe they use a different fluid higher speeds..... I ll ask around.

RE: AT fluid change at 60000 km???

Got the E500 4MATIC 5-speed AT fluid changed today. $135 labor and $102 in materials (gasket, filter, and fluid). Ended up not doing the transfer case. This would require removing the engine cross member and the dealer talked me out of it. Not sure what it would have cost.
