E320? Info, please

I will be agressively pursuing an E320 (2003 or 2004) next year. What kind of mileage AND trouble can I expect or are these pretty reliable cars.

Re: E320? Info, please

Basically the troubles are what we experience in the MLs, albeit the SBC which is troublesome as well. Isn't the 320 engine the same in both the W211 and W163?

We were comtemplating getting an E320 MY2003 early last year, but that idea was put off, and by the time we thought about getting another car again, there were no "good" E's around.

I believe the 320 engines were changed slightly in '03, were they not?

It would make sense. Let me go check or something. Looks like they were.

RE: E320? Info, please

Supposedly the 03's are the worst year for the model, but that's just what I've read people saying.

Supposedly the act was getting better by the time they replaced it with the 350...

Anyway, as Animals said, expect some electrical issues.

I would not do it without a real warranty.. good luck.

One would assume so.

Re: E320? Info, please

As to mileage, I averaged 36 mpg with our CDI on highways doing 70 mph in mountainous driving. Can't speak for you gassers.

Check out the threads

With the CDI, you ought to be able to do 40mpg highway
with careful driving and less mountainous terrain.
