The Matchbox 600 SEL Thread

Maybe we should just have one thread for discussion of the Matchbox 600SEL:

During the early 1990's Matchbox produced a limited edition collection of highly detailed miniature diecast vehicles. One of the many "Matchbox Premiere" Models that they made was the 1992 Mercedes-Benz 600 SEL (W140)

They made limited numbers of these cars, and most of them today are beat up in the bottom of a toy box somewhere. LOL.

Anyways, supposedly, Matchbox made 6 Colors of these cars. Black, White, Blue, Silver, Green, and Red:

Here are pics of Black, White, Blue, Silver, and Green. I have not seen a single picture of a Red Matchbox 600SEL yet.

Black:

White:

Blue:

Silver:

Green:

The reason I posted this thread was because recently, zeq and I have become extremely addicted to getting these rare collectibles, because they are so cool. :

I have the black one, boxed, in mint condition, only my one has rubber, treaded tires
I have a contact who should have a few more mint condition examples if I remember right...anyone? (local)
I think only in black and blue though and not cheap either, around NZ$20

Sign me up for one, I have more than 400 matchbox cars that I collected when I was little, many are in mint condition. I used to get one each friday. Ah those were the days.

I wonder if we put that kind of racing tyres on our W140s. How will it look?

Well, Currently I'm using Bridge stone tyres. They are very expesnive.

I'm thinking of using GT radial tyres the next time. Indonesian made tyres. Half the price of Bridgestone and Firestone.

They also made tyres for pirelle.

It is interesting how they have Bridgestone and Firestone in Brunei, even though they are US tires. US tires are not very good, IMO.

I have bridgestone GTs on my car. The wear very well, even with all the glass I drive through.

I found a Green 600SEL. It is very expensive though. $20.

Although, there are only 12,000 of those. Very limited European edition. I dunno if I am going to buy it.

yea, and it is $20 just for the car itself, not including shipping. I have found another one in the same color, Green, and I am going to "import" it from france. LOL It is going to cost me almost $15 shipped to the US.

But it is very rare, and I am addicted to these things.
