...a few extra switches on the center, what are they for?

I can see the heated front seat switches & duo-tone horn switch amoungst the more common switches but the other red one is something I havn't seen before

That is a great car for sure
I love the body kit and wish I had one like that on mine

Re: Pics of the 500SEL

Where do I start?
Lowered about 3" with Koni ajustable shocks (red) and Eibach springs.
Removed middle mufflers and replaced with Hot Dogs - about 10-12 more HP,nice growl upon accelaration, Chrome tips from XJS ( perfect match of curves and bends). Re-wired tail lights - top AND bottom section are stop lights (not just the top section) Reversing sensors, blue dash lights, cubic zirconias. (fake diamonds) on the speedo markings and fuel/oil gauges, chrome rings around the gauges with zabrano backing. Keyless entry and engine immoblizer. Motec engine mangement system. Zender front spoiler and side skirts. 3.27 diff. hard wired radar detector to 2nd red switch on A/C panel. other switches for garage door remote and louder horn, chrome door sills, Just to name a few!

plus the usual maintanance procedures: replaced timing chain etc, replaced both front seat springs and all seat leathers, polished valve covers, replaced
B pillar vinyl, repainted speedo needles etc, moved the duel horns to below
bumper level for better air flow to radiator, blah, blah blah - getting bored yet? I'II stop now before you lapse into a coma.
Cheers,
Robbo

Bored? Hell no
Some primo ideas there
You tinker with things just like me, awesome!

I even rewired the tail lights on my W116 similar to what you have done, along with dozens of other things to my cars

RE: Pics of the 500SEL

Hey Nomad, the front skirt ($250) and side skirts ($150) both come from Carshine in Melbourne, I'm still chasing a rear valance to complete the look , but they want $1400, yep, you read correctly $1400 for it - my response was two words, the second word was OFF.
Other additions worth mentioning are: Darkest legal blue window tint ( a must for giving the bird to Cops at stop lights) and K&N air filter - instantly feel the difference in performance.

RE: Pics of the 500SEL

Actually I don't think I've ever stated what I've done here on P3

I painted all the plastic panels and bumpers myself from light grey to black + the headlight wiper arms, door mirrors and handles

Made my own front airdam from another front bumper I had, then I had an accident earlier this year and it got damaged and after modifying it, is not as deep as it used to be

Whole new free flow exhaust from the down pipes back

A new set of smoked tail lights (tinted myself as they were all clear) and front indicators

Black painted grille and extra grille bars

Tints on the rear doors only (cops are always on the lookout for full tints)

Lowered springs

A few sets of wheels, currently 16x8" R129 Ronals

Newer style, smaller rimmed steering wheel

Modified rear parcel shelf for speaker placement

Rewired for first gear starts everytime + throttle linkage adjustment so full throttle is now FULL THROTTLE

Modified airfilter setup

Blacked out rear badges

One thing I think everyone should do - paint the plastic inner headlight bezel silver or chrome, it really brightens up the front of the car, especially when you've got clear indicators

Oh and my flame thrower exhaust kit (for the tailgaters)

I still have plenty of things left to do
I'm currently attempting to install the side skirts from a gen-2 W126 the only hitch is they are for an SE not SEL, I'm sure I can fix that though

Thanks All, Mr Nomad, Whats the story on the FGS? Are you installing aftermarket sideskirts or the stock ones?. I have an excellent set (2nd Gen, SEL plus new red berries and clips) if you want them (you pay the shipping)

nice. I think you should get the AMG boot spoiler since your front is modded.

true, but it is not entirely necessary. I like the car the way that it is already, but maybe a spoiler would be nice.

RE: Pics of the 500SEL

Thanks for your replies, and I'd love a rear spoiler but the prob is sourcing one -
if anyone can help, please let me know. The aftermarket MBspares in "Downunder"
is very limited and Ebay is a main source for most items. The main reason for the front
spoiler was for stabilty, at high speed the front became "flighty" but the
spoiler has rectified this.
BTW Zeq, were those pics taken in Brunei?
