Nardi steering wheel - comments invited...

I bought this wheel recently on a local auction site. I'ts an engraved/signed & numbered 14.37" version that has been used, but aside from showing slight metal rubbing at the hub bolt heads area* - it is in really neat condition.
Anyway..., I'm in the process of locally buying a boss kit so that I can fit it to my wifes 230CE. I'm also bidding elsewhere for a trim ring that covers *. One has been clearly fitted previously but did not come to me with the wheel.

That's a beautiful steering wheel

Are the engravings on the backside or on the front?

The sig. is on the front - right hand spoke. The other markings are on the back. Seems some wheels were signed and some weren't. I think it's pretty cool and feel it will enhance the coupe by adding a little more 'sportiness'. I certainly can't moan about the cost - NZ$36 (about US$23) - seems they're a lot more on ebay.

Re: Nardi steering wheel - comments invited...

I'd like it better if it had black spokes. But then, that just reflects my personal tastes.

But where is the chrome in the interior, its devoid of it. Now certain other cars that have other chrome in I feel would work better. But like I said, its all personal taste. Nardi makes a quality item however.

RE: Nardi steering wheel - comments invited...

The wheel spokes are polished aluminium not chrome.
I fully agree that this look is not suitable for the more sedate sedans, but my wee coupe is just crying out for it imo.
I now have the boss (hub) kit - not a Nardi though, holy crap! original Nardi is bloody expensive.
I was ebay bidding on a Nardi horn ring thingy - it surrounds the horn button and covers the hub screw heads. I felt smug at autobidding US$15 - I've just come home from work to find it sold for US$46!....bummer.
Another US seller would not allow me to bid on a Nardi Mercedes horn button - was available to US buyers only despite my polite request and 100% positive ebay history.
Ah well.....

Chrome or polished aluminum, my opinion is the same.  However the key is this.  Its your car and do you like it.  When all is said and done thats all that matters anyway.

Re: Nardi steering wheel - comments invited...

Point well made and taken onboard. Guess I'm loosening up a bit, and enjoying more of the personal touches that my cars invite rather than adhering to 'ex factory' .
Mercedes has always offered a huge option range for all models. Both of my old examples already had more than US O.E. equipment levels* prior to my ownership, yet most* were standard for cars that have found their way down here.
If keeping them original meant huge$ value - I'd be keen.
But where I'm currently working, a 126 420SEL parks everyday - stock standard. My God - it's boring to look at, a fading old glory....
