That car is SOLID! It has 255,000 miles on it and I swear it drives like a new one. I can say if anyone wants to see what a Mercedes SHOULD be like in 255k, this is it. I couldn't find a rattle one in this car and the interior is imaculate. The only flaw I found in the paint was a little bubble of rust in the back where the cell antenna is supposed to go. They just don't make them like this, anymore.

Nutz - 10/12/2006 6:52 PM The W116 is just as solid but it get's no respect or recognition :( Damn right there Nutz As the owner of both (and experienced in many models of both) I think, in general the W116 is better built and more solid than the W126 and I've seen some exceptional examples of the 126 It's a real shame very few people give much thought to the W116, which IMO broke more ground in design and engineering terms than the W126 did Sadly I admit that most of my attention lately has been on my 126 not the 116 so I'm guilty of neglect...I must repent...Nutz I've got some groovy plans for my ol' 280 coming

Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing the W116 and I have driven one of those as well. However, I like the looks of the W126 better and it is a solid car. I'm drawing lines in comparison to quality of today's Mercedes, which are not up to snuff, IMHO, compared to these.
