Economy

We made a trip this weekend and got 29-30 mpg highway. Is this about average for the E 320?

RE: Economy

I'd say you did pretty well.  I only beat that (and not by much) by virtue of the 7-spd trans..

That's about what I get on the highway at 75MPH. Could probably do alittle better at 65-70 mph.

RE: Economy

I'm sure you could.  I'm finding that mileage really starts rolling off around 75-80mph, even with the 7-spd.

If I could only drive the speed limit, we wouldn't have to start so many wars

RE: Economy

This is good for this size of the car. My 1990 300 SE did not do nearly as well!

RE: Economy

Technology has improved dramatically in recent years.  If the market/public would only sacrifice a tiny bit of needless acceleration, we could all be driving around in 40mpg cars and not have to give up a thing in the process

Re: Economy

I've never been able to get that kind of economy. But I think the reason is I usually drive like I'm on the Autobahn.

Re: Economy

that's very good for a 1997 with an M104 inline 6 engine, the M112 V6 (in theory) should give better economy but at 70mph they are about the same.

Re: Economy

I've done as well as 36 mpg with the '98 E320, (100% Highway miles).
