I run Bridgestone S-03's in 225 front and 255's in back. I've been running 36 psi all around, but it looks like that may be a bit too much in the back. The handling is great, but the wear rate looks like the center is going faster then the edges. In other words overpressure.

I have Pilot Premacy all round and just hit 24k miles (UK) and the wear is nice and even and loads of tread left (even though the back end gets a spin most days )

Sizes - 255/50 R16 92W on the rear
205/55 R16 91W front

Pressure - 33 rear, 30 front

hth

Is that a misprint, or do you actually have that big a variation in the front and rear tire set? Normally SLK's run 205's and 225's or in some cases 225's and 245's, but I' never heard of 205's and 255's. Seems to me that that wide a variation would lead to severe push or understeer at highway speeds.

That's OK, just had me a little worried there. A set up like that would be great for the dragstrip, or any straight line stuff, just a little hard to turn when the time comes....

Michellin Pilot sports, 225/45/17 up front and 245/40/17 on the rear. Just looking to change all 4 tho... trying to decide between a set of lower cost Falkens or weather to spash the cash for a set of PS2's. Noise, treadlife and wet weather handling are my main concerns with a cheaper set of rubber.....

SLK230UK99, welcome to the site. Have you looked at the Kumho brand? They're dirt cheap over here, and seem to give me decent service on my 16 Valve. I know of a few folks that have tried them on their SLK's with few complaints.

Thanks Bruce, yeah I used to run Kumho's on my C class - 225/45/17's and they always gave a decent level of grip and were hard wearing. Noise wasnt so much a problem with a saloon car - maybe more of an issue in the slk??

Mike from Pennsylvannia ran them on his 230K with good results, he liked them. You might want to check with him through e-mail. While your doing that maybe you can tell him about this site, the more the merrier! I mention e-mail because "they" read PM's over there.

I run Toyo proxes front 225/40/18 rear 255/35/18 ........I find they give nice grip and low road noise but bad curb ridge so park 1 foot from curb at all times 8-))

Goodyear F1 Eagles 225/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear They seem to do the trick for me.
When the car came from the factory it had continental sport contact,(not as good as the Eagles) imho.
