Drivers window not operating!

Hey gang! My 78' 300D driver side electric window will not open at all, and this started tonight. The whole day my window was working fine! I checked to see if its the button, but its not? I dont hear any noise at all when I press the switch, is the motor shot or is it something else?

RE: Drivers window not operating!

All the other windows work fine its just the drivers door, I try using another switch but that doesnt work either! I think its just the window motor! I think my car is telling me to stop smoking inside!

I guess tomarow I will start heading down to the junk yard and pick up a used motor....

Did you clean the contacts on the switch?

Use another switch?

I've heard some people have luck just disassembling the switch or regulator/motor and cleaning/lubricating them really well and that they work again when reinstalled.

This isn't such a big deal-- you can fix this one yourself.

There is a reason whyever people worship these cars as the easiest Benz to repair-- there are, what.... 3 screws holding the door panel on?!?

That's hell?

Try 50 clips with dowel pins and springs like on a VW.

Try any new model car with push fasteners-- the sheet metal on the newer cars is so thin, that even the plastic porcupine clip remover tool will dent the inner door skin.

Removing the door panel on a w123 is cake compared to most other automobiles.

Well, I do speak from some modicum of experience here-- The neon needed a window regulator and window replaced after it was burgled-- The regulator in my father's ram 1500 went bad last winter as well.

I've torn into vintage VWs many MANY times, and I removed the door panel from the Shlomo for some reason that I can't remember-- the Mercedes door panel is WELL constructed, even if it is just naugahyde over fiberboard-- The neon and ram's inner doors both have matching dents because the metal is so thin that you really can't pry out the pop fasteners.

Hows the repair coming?
