That sucks! I've been there before! When my fuel filters clogged up because my fuel tank was so old and dirty, the fuel lines start picking up garbage! I pulled to the side 6 times just to make it home so I can get my filter from my house! My car literally crawled to my house! It was horrible! I had to get a new fuel tank and get my fuel lines flushed! Found out my old tank had holes in it.....Long Story! That was the 240D

RE: Alternative Fuels Thread - BioDiesel - Veggie Oil WVO/SVO

I have a small queshion!

Does the amount of Veggie oil have to be the same amount of diesel fuel in my fuel tank, to make my car run properly!

Dieselburns gone veggie

Ok gang today is the day Charlie Brown is gona have a taste of veggie oil! Im gona start running my car with SVO right now, since Getting wvo and filtering is gona take a long time, and if you know me, im always wroking. Though hopefully when summer ends I can go back to school at suffolk community. So less working more concering about the enviroment.

Well today I went to stop & shop to see if my buddy who works there can hook me up with some veggie oil! I bought 4 1 gallon veggie oil for a $1 a piece, he gave me a huge discount. He said that I was crazy and gona kill my car. He don't know nothing...

I came home made a small funnel by cutting half a 1 liter bottle, then I took the veggie oil and start pouring it into my take, though I had seccond thoughts of putting the oil into my tank. For a second I thought I was gona kill my car. After I was done emptying the bottles of oil, I close my tank, clean the little mess I made, and I started up the engine. The engine was idling fine. I put the empty bottles in my trunk and headed out for the road for a test run. The car was running much better and there was a huge diffrence of the power response I got. I thought it was all in my head. I came up to a red light and stopped the car. While Idling at the light I smell a burger king on fire, BUT IT WASN'T. It was my car exhaust! It smells so good, I feel like my mother is making spicey food again. I was so happy, because my car was actualy burning veggie oil! The feeling was so great to have my car burning on an aternative fuel source. Then after my test run, I went to another supermarket called Compare Foods. They had a sail on oil for $1.60 a Liter. I took 8 of them and went straight to the register. The register people where making fun of me, because I was buying 8 bottles of veggie oil. They said some mean things it was madd funny lol.... omg...

So I got home and filled up my tank of veggie oil again, then went for another test run. Now my car barely has diesel fuel in the tank, so now my car is runing 100% of veggie oil. There where a lot of diffrences of how my car was operating.

1. The engine noise sounds diffrent ( to me it sounds a lil bit louder then normal)?

2. There was a lot more smoke noticeable when idling at the light( IDK why, is it because the oil is cleaning out engine gunk)?

Well I hope these syptoms are all normal when operating a veggie car?

Here are some pics!!!

Yea nutz yor right, runing on svo is to expensive, though the performance has a great diffrence. Though I think its time to make a set up for wvo in the future. Today was just my test run on runing svo.

or you could take it from resteraunts that give you permission to do so... DB i wouldnt run SVO without a heated system up in NY... us florida burners can get away with it most of the time.. sure in the winter we cut it with kero or gas but it doesnt freeze or go below 0 here...

Re: Alternative Fuels Thread - BioDiesel - Veggie Oil WVO/SVO

Yea thats the problem! Since New York does get the four season weather, winter is gona be very cold, and I dont want a forzen tank of veggie oil. A heated set up could be expensive, hmmmmmm idk!

I was wondering if the car can run off of soybean oil?

Also I would like to ask what harmfull dangers veggie oil can do to your car?

1. yes it can

2. the old hoses can become softened up and corrode away inside, due to the acidity of the fuel....apparently.....i have yet to have any troubles, knock on wood.....

Re: Alternative Fuels Thread - BioDiesel - Veggie Oil WVO/SVO

Wow Justin! Runing on veggie oil gives my car fantastic results! The car runs better and faster on the streets, and I get good mpg! I mean way good!!! Though here are some concerns

1. The is a lot of smoke while my car is operating from the exhaust pipe and it smells like French Fries
2. Its hard to start(I think I have a glow plug issue)

Though today before I went to work and close the stroe, I stopped by costco and purchased two 35 pound kirkland Soybean oil, since it was so cheap! So your sure the car can run striaght soybean oil!!!! Are you positive!!!

Thanks for the replys!
