Mine was driving a 1981 S class. A Beauty. I don't remember exactly the number but I do remember that it drove like a DREAM. I was 20 years old and the owner let me drive it to lunch one day. I had always wanted a Benz from that day on and never thought I'd get one. He bought the car in Europe and had it shipped here. He paid some import duties and it had a German tag. He said the total bill for the car and duties was $22,000 NEW! Even to this day I can remember watching that star on the hood and nearly running off the damn road!

We went to Atlantic City in a brand new Obsidian Black W220 S-Class almost a year ago. I was completely obsessed from that moment on. Once my dad began looking for a new car, and mentioned Mercedes I immediately said DO IT!

I recall how solid it felt, that riding on a rail sensation. Then when still in college I fell in love with a brand new 1981 240 D owned by a professor who parked it in the same place every day. And on the way to class I’d walk by it everyday. It struck me as a remarkable combination of Teutonic austerity, timeless styling, and just the right amount of luxury to make it comfortable but still fun to drive.

I was drvivng a CRX at the time so to fit all the people he told me to take his Benz. I was amazed at how solid the car was with already 108k miles on it. I knew from that point forward that I would be in Benz someday.

My first benz was also my first car a 2000 ML 320 and my next benz is my current 2002 ML 320. I will be looking for a new car in the next year since the other 2 where my moms old cars. I am either thinking about a used E320 CDI or taking my dads M3 that just sits around, but I think i would rather have the E320 since it has 4 doors and people wont bother me at every street light.

You don't know harassment at every street light until you ride in or drive your friends Monza!

BackRoll23 Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Re: First Benz Experience In 1984, my dad had just purchased a new sl convertible. He was doing about a 120 mph and got in a wreck. Destroyed two of those concrete barriers on the highway that separate the oncoming traffic leaving only rubble. Instead of the engine coming through the firewall, the firewall collapsed as it was intended to do. Granted, when it collapsed, it crushed his knee and he had to have three surgeries to repair the damage, but it did its job. While the accident was his fault (DUI), the car saved his life. Since that day, I've known that I wanted to own a Mercedes.
