AsianML Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | So..anyone compare the two? So anyone get a chance to compare the pre-facelift and post-facelift E-Classes yet? I've been in both, but weren't able to stick around long enough to get a better feel of the quality, and I couldn't drive them. Anyone else been able to do it yet?

They are on the new version, and I think on all previous Euro versions (tight spaces and all) I could use them for my new garage which is a tight fit for two vehicles Chris do you know what's involved? Is it something the dealer can do? Mine'll probably charge $1500

Inside they are nearly identical, the 07's has a new climate control LCD that was found in the E500's of past years, I find the 06 climate control to be easier to use since its bigger and easier to see in all light conditions. As for quality the 06 E350 was have is great and has only had to go in for regular service and has no squeaks or rattles. The 07 has a strange thumping noise that happens occasionally when stopped I guess it has someone to do with the purge value that needs to be replaced. As for SBC brakes in the 06 vs none SBC in the 07's, I prefer the SBC. Its something hard to describe the SBC vs none but its something you would need to drive one after the other and it would be a personal choice, I just feel that the SBC responds faster to me. Exterior wise I prefer the look of the 06 it has a more classic look, but I still love the 07's very aggressive looking grill and the sport packages rims. One thing I dislike about the 07's are the mirrors they just look funny and out of place to me, but they are more useful than the 06's which I find on the small side, but who needs mirrors when you have 268hp and a 7 speed transmission. The brake rotors and pads on the 07 are remarkable in the sense they leave no brake dust all MB are know for. I would say it takes a good 2 weeks to driving before I can see any brake dust on the 07 vs just 3-4 days with the 06.

Wow thanks Andrew that's a pretty convenient comparison thing you have going on there in your driveway! Interesting about the brakes... they must have changed the pad material.

What the hell, thought I'd contribute a photo of my own, although my weather's not as nice. This is why I could really use the folding mirrors. This is how close I have to park two cars to get them in my garage together!!

AndrewAZ Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Re: So..anyone compare the two? Yea we park at odd angles at my house so you can get in and out of the cars.. The E classes are parked side by side and make an upside-down V so the front part of the cars almost touch.

I am not sure if its because of the sports package which have front ventilated disks or if its every new 07 that got diffrent brakes.. But by looking at the brakes they appear to have a higher metallic content than the 06. But yea we always end up with pairs of cars... Had 3 ML's at once, now have 2 E classes and 2 "3" series BMW.
