E350 Sport..

Sounds so sexy at WOT.. I cant imagine how good a E550 must sound.. But driving on a road with high walls on either side wow the car sounds evil.

You can gradually bring up the RPMs as the mileage increases, even if it's during break-in period. I'm a half believer in the "baby it" and the "drive it like you stole it" during break-in. So I compromise and baby it, but as the mileage increases a little I'll gradually bring up the RPMs.

Re: E350 Sport..

The engine broken in thing is just a bunch of BS. At the factory each motor is started and dynode aka going to the redline to make sure the power output is within a certain margin. They say for BMW the motors come broken in from the factory with an equivalent of having 500 street miles on them. The E350 has been WOT ever since 1,200 miles, my BMW has been WOT ever since 500 miles and it gets redlined multiple times each day and so far it has only gotten faster and pulls stronger.

RE: E350 Sport..

Break-in is not BS.  Tolerances are tight when the engine is new!

There's a reason Mercedes-Benz specifies moderate driving during the Break-In period.
