I'm a half believer in the "baby it" and the "drive it like you stole it" during break-in. So I compromise and baby it, but as the mileage increases a little I'll gradually bring up the RPMs. | ||

At the factory each motor is started and dynode aka going to the redline to make sure the power output is within a certain margin. They say for BMW the motors come broken in from the factory with an equivalent of having 500 street miles on them. The E350 has been WOT ever since 1,200 miles, my BMW has been WOT ever since 500 miles and it gets redlined multiple times each day and so far it has only gotten faster and pulls stronger. | ||

Marsden Classic MB Date registered: Apr 2006 Location: Capital City USA Vehicle(s): Mercedes-Benz | RE: E350 Sport.. Break-in is not BS. Tolerances are tight when the engine is new! There's a reason Mercedes-Benz specifies moderate driving during the Break-In period.
