1997 E 320 Sedan locking remote

Just got my sedan from the paint shop and now the remote key and the valet key will not lock all the doors. I can lock the doors from inside with the "LOCK" switch, but there is no way I can lock all doors from the outside. I am taking it in for a checkup and I will let yu know what they find. MB service line could only say "perhaps a dead battery" (In the key fob.)

RE: 1997 E 320 Sedan locking remote

First the paint shop said it was the PSE unit, then it turned out the door itself was not lined up correctly! I pick it up again this Friday.

huh? in mine you can program the way it opens by holding the lock button down for 5-10 seconds on the key.

Setting1: press lock and unlock and all doors open and close
Setting2: press lock and all doors lock, press unlock once and only the drivers side opens, pressi it twice and all doors unlock.

Re: 1997 E 320 Sedan locking remote

The way the door was hung, the right rear door would not lock. It prevented the other doors from locking. I could lock the trunk and the driver's door only. The remote key would not activated the locks at all. The first said the battery in the key was dead. New key however. Anyway we will see how it works when I finally get it back today!

Everything is back to original and a beautiful job too! It took getting the manager involved, but the door operates as it did. All remote operations work. This cost around 2,250 after all was completed.

Re: 1997 E 320 Sedan locking remote

New door, new trim. Paint and clearcoat. The realignment was part of the repair. I was T-boned in a Walgreen's parking lot by a FORD Explorer. The new door was 1/8" off so had to be adjusted after the final fitment. Since it was off, it would not permit the key to lock the doors.
