I need to replace a front fender and hood on my '79 300CD. Is the front sheet metal the same as a sedans?

From the firewall forward they are pretty much identical - I have a complete '85 sedan front end, fenders, hood, grill, bumper, etc. on my '84 300CD. I got it a bit banged up t-boning and totaling an idiot in a 190E that made an illegal left in front of me on Westheimer in Houston.

the CD and D are exactly the same with the exception of the front seats, back seats and interior behind the rear doors. suspension is the same and so on |

Yes, engine, suspension the same, yet from the "A" pillar back NO sheet metal can interchange, except maybe the trunk lid, tail lights and sun roof. Rear windscreen different.
Being a different wheel base, drive shafts not the same length. Emergency cable different length, etc. |
