Posts: 2230  | RE: Best Wax? excuse me harald, i am here  detailing is my passion  best one on the market is without doubt meguires NXT. very easy to use and easy to remove and on todays rubbish water based paints it gives the best reults. BUT.....one small tip,its not what you apply its how you apply it  3 easy steps after washing with meguires GOLD CLASS; 1-check paint condition with finger tips,if rough use meguires CLAY. very easy to use (it does 80% of the work for sure) 2- apply NXT with a meguires sponge applicator and wipe off with meguires microfibre( the applicator and removal micro fibre are the key!) 3- finally get some QUICK DETAILER to keep the paint in tip top condition.this stuff is great for bird droppings! and all fresh dust and dirt buildups. (birds always drop off on shiny dark paintwork....you have been warned ) by the way the sponge applicators and microfibres are all washable with just normal powder at 40 degrees. where to buy  HALFORDS etc. ring meguires on 0870 241 6696 and ask for their mini booklet. my cabrio is 4 years old and fully meguired (IMG_1116.jpg) Attachments ----------------  IMG_1116.jpg (86KB - 8 downloads) | |

Hus, you forgot to mention how NXT is one of the best smelling wax there is. Women like a clean smelling G.  I have been using Marco's formula of NXT and carnuba paste on the hood,roof and trunk(300sd) and plain NXT on everywhere else. The NXT as you say goes on and comes off easy which makes for less of a chore, for as I get older washing and waxing has lost some of my enthusiasm from when I was in my 20's and 30's. Mike | |

The paint is all the same. If you owned a 2001-2005 model, any model, you would know what a headache that paint was being as soft as.....as..... use your imagination. Talk about surface scratching....... The nano-particle clear coats are living up to their advertising, claiming to be 75% less likely to scratch. My '08 C300's metallic Barolo Red paint at nearly six months is still swirl free whereas my '01 C320's Obsidian Black would have been polished twice in that period. I have same thing with my 2005 E320. I would say the paint is extremely scratch sensitive. As for favorite wax..... Meguiar's NXT TechWax 2.0 !

Okay, now your new GL should have the ceramic/nano-particle whatever paint, so we'll be interested in seeing how much better it resists swirls/micro-scratches etc etc! With your two black Mercedes you can do a direct comparison

GL & E both have the same exact ceramic paint. Mercedes-Benz start using ceramic paint at the end of 2003.
