Engine Mount Torx Screws

Mine are loose again-- I couldn't get them as tight as they're required to be, apparently. They were mostly stripped, but I reinstalled them thinking It'd be the last time under my ownership..

Nope-- not so lucky

So.. can I pick them up at a normal auto parts supplier, or will they be dealership items? Do I need to use a torque wrench next time, and to what degree do I need to tighten them to if I have to?

Yeah, but those engine-suspension mounts are aluminum, aren't they? You'll stretch the bore and will have to go up a size every time you replace them if they are.

I've learned this lesson on my neon's sunroof screws-- I overtightened them once and now it rattles and is loose again. Damned Webasto shit. Didn't that name used to stand for something?!?

Re: Engine Mount Torx Screws

Hello iNeon,

When, after, you get your next good threads, use a thread locking agent to the torx screw and tighten the mounting, best you can. I do not think you will need more the 35Nm - 45Nm.

Do not over apply the thread lock either, just a small line, run down, only one side of the threads should be sufficient.
