| Brake DIY - more questions
I'm due for front brakes - rotors and pads - and I have read all the DIY procedures I can find. The one thing that's missing in all of them is the required bolt torques for the various fasteners that will have to be taken off and reinstalled. If you have info info/WIS on this, please post/PM me. It's very important to torque bolts to their spec. One of my job functions is to make sure structures don't fail, and I'm usually part of a team that investigates failures when they do happen. Fasteners/joints/interfaces are usually way up there on the culprit ladder. I believe most will agree that tightening as hard as one can go is bad practice, very bad practice Thanks fellas.

In addition to proper torques, note that Mercedes specifies that the screws mounting the caliper mount to the hub and the screw mounting the rotor to the hub are to be REPLACED and not reused. Rotor to hub: 10 nm Caliper mount bracket to hub: 115 nm Guide pins: 25 nm Note finally that the guide pins are 7 mm allen, a size you may not have. This information is applicable to my 2001 E320; other models may be different
