2001 E320S ???

I have been searching around to check reliability on a car I am very interested in and was really excited to find a site like this. In other interest in my life there are sites like this that I use/belong to that usually produce great information. So here is what I wanted to know.

I have found a 2001 E320S Wagon with 36,000miles. I have never owned a MB so wasnt sure what to expect as far as reliability. Any input on this car? This will be for my wife who only puts about 10,000 a year on her car but the mileage on her current one is killing me with gas prices (Chev. Suburban). This seems to be the best wagon for size and style out there but I just not sure of the reliability as I know it will cost more to service but if the car is solid it is worth it to me.

Thanks for any responses I receive and if I purchase this vehicle or any MB hopefully I can contribute.

BTW, this car is in Portland, OR

Thx

Re: 2001 E320S ???

the 2001 E320 is probably the most reliable of the V6 engined E-classes as the earlier ones had various problems (lke the harmonic balancer etc)

The biggest issue you will have with these cars is rust, mainlyaround the bottom of the door sills, under the headlights and around the trunk (edge). Next up are the window regulators, they fail but are easily repaced.

Some W210's had issues with their front spring mounts, but the 01 shouldn't be affected. All in all the cars are very good and are my own personal favorite merc. I suggest that you get all the info you can on the car (carfax etc) and then have a good think and use your best judgement as wether to purchase it or not.

BTW If you are planning on using the wagon for any winter driving i'll highly suggest the 4matic variant since it will offer oodles of grip in snow/slush as well.

Once you get the car do check out the DIY & FAQ section here and you'll be saving yourself a stack of cash.

Good luck

RE: 2001 E320S ???

BTW, "E320S Wagon" is redundant.

E320S means wagon.  So does S210.
