Re: 300 E 1983

As an extra car , i use to drove volvo as daily car. But may be i fall in love with it...

But this engine , everybody is wondering with it. Its a ^!& in wich someone added a turbo or its a 617.952?

Why EPC do not give me data chart for the chassi.I want to introduce my self in diesel with this engine, but now i am afraid to its quality.....I am not complaining , used cars are always surprise. My cousin drove it and says it fantastic ( only leak under the oil filter)- the car is 800 Km from RIO.

Well many questions ,.......lets drive the truck!

those cars are very common in North America, with 617.952.........

someone bought an OM617.952 motor and transmission, and put it into your car, thats what i think.......

RE: 300 E 1983

Now i am a little bit afraid about if it has been done legaly. The documentation is ok, the chassi number is correct wrote in paper and in the car, but its not ok for EPC.

I had the tentation to change my GE m103 for this real diesel engine. But i am afraid if it is realible , or the problems i will have with burocracy to exchange M103 in the E and the

617A in the G....My G is legal. This w123 too, but may be without other engine, with other number , there are not engine numbers in the doc, only HP.Tomorrow i will see if its wrote 88HP or 125HP.

My GE has 170......but the same torque.25 kgf.

Do you thing the trasmition will fit?I mean i can maintain the GE one?

excuse if i ask too much.

how good to use the diesel is depends on how good it was maintained over the years........

i dont know if the 617 will bolt up to a M103 transmission in a G, ask on the G forum.........

well, mine runs strong with over 400tkm......

i'm sure the mechanic will be able to help you decide if you can drive it, or if it needs too much repair, once he sees it.........

Re: 300 E 1983

There are differences on designation in nothamerica and USA w 123 : a 300D is a turbo diesel in north america( i supose canada and Mex) but its aspirated in US.

Manufacturer Mercedes-Benz
Also called -
Production 1976–1985
Predecessor Mercedes-Benz W115
Successor Mercedes-Benz W124

US-spec Mercedes-Benz W123The Mercedes-Benz W123 cars were produced from 1976 through 1986.

The W123 models surpassed their predecessor, the W114/W115 "stroke-8" models, as the most successful Mercedes, selling over 2.5 million cars, before being replaced by the W124 after 1985. Also, the additional, smaller range of Mercedes-Benz W201 models was introduced in 1982.

[edit] Specs

US-spec Mercedes-Benz W123 wagon
non-US-spec Mercedes-Benz W123 coupeThe W123 was the first Mercedes to have a factory-offered station wagon version designated as T-model (for Transport), as earlier models were converted to station wagons, and long-wheelbase ambulances and hearses only by private companies. The W123 300 TD (Transport Diesel) was one of the first turbodiesel cars on the European market. The turbodiesel cars were only available with automatic transmission.
Long wheel base models of the 250, 240D and 300D were also available, with 7 or 8 seats, intended primarily for use as limos or taxi cabs.

Other innovations that its predecessor lacked, including ABS,was a retractable steering column, and an airbag for the driver.

RE: 300 E 1983

You are right. The incredible is that she didnt overheat after an hour of hard work. But i agree, they modified it , but it looks like a nice job. She needs care...i will give.

For me its a 952 engine into a 912 house.....(sorry about bad english).Dont ask me why i have that impression....

But it costs a little, , engine is working well, very small leak under ...Lets play one or two months, so i will take it out and see if she is prepaired to be turbinated in the inside, and what she really need to be a good girl!
