Finally purchased 1997-1999 Taillights for my S500 (PICS)

Well, I finally purchased 1997-1999 Taillights for my 1996 S500. I have been looking for them for a really long time, and I finally purchased them from a member of another Mercedes-Benz Forum.

They really look great. I am so happy with the way they look.

Here are some pics.

They look awesome, and they signal white. I think they look cool signalling white, but I think I have to replace them, because CA law wants people to have their lights signalling yellow. Is this true? or not?

This picture shows the a taillight signalling white...

Did the '97-'99 tail lights have 404 - Not Found stamped on them? If so, cool.

The pictures didn't show up a minute ago....you're playing mind games on me.

The tail lights look good. A huge improvement over the old ones. You keep it so clean.

oh, I see. Yeah, I had to switch over to the Rich Text Editor to embed the pictures. I think PointedThree posts it anyway, so that it can save the text, while switching over from the Basic Editor to the Rich Text Editor. I use the basic editor, because I never really use the rich text, unless I'm adding in a picture...

Glad that you like the taillights. I have been wanting these thing for such a long time. It is almost amazing that I finally was able to get a pair for my car.

Yea, I try and clean my car every other weekend. It only takes about an hour to wash and dry it, and it really helps the visibility during the week.

Man, I am just so happy I finally have these for my car. THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!

I see you added the chrome strips along the front and rear bumpers? Could you post closeups some time? I think it looks pretty good and clean!! Not tacky and half-arsed like some of the jobs. I like how it continues with the chrome in the side molding.

 ^^^ Bitch needs slappin'

Dear 140 Host.... you MUST keep the white/red lenses, they are TOO cool!!

Here's how: find amber bulbs to replace your clear ones, behind the lenses.

Lots of cars have them now so you ought to be able to find some that fit.

Good luck

And I forgot he already has clear corners in front.

So I presume he had to install amber bulbs behind those lenses already?

In my state white indicators are not permitted, front or rear.  Not sure about other states..

nope, nothing aftermarket there. All W140's come with that standard. AML, you need to get you're eyes checked.

Maybe it just stood out for you because they are clean, or something....

But yeah, every W140 sedan I've seen has them...

Yea, I need to go out and get some. I am pretty sure that they have them for sale at my local auto parts shop...

yea, my front corners on the W140 have amber bulbs in them. Although, for the W126, I couldn't find any amber bulbs for the front corners. I went to my auto parts shop when I first installed them, and they didn't have any at all that fit for the 126.

So, ever since I got the clear corners on the W126, they have been signaling white. I haven't got pulled over/fined as of yet. I think I will have to go and buy some though, just to be safe.

well, if you are really that interested, I can go out and get myself an Opthamology Degree, and then I'd be able to do it.

Just give me a couple of months, or years, or decades....

haha thanks mbnz230 Well, what I'm currently running on one amber/orange bulb on one side of the light, and one clear bulb on the other side of the light, so the signal's glow ends up being a nice light yellow Cheating the system

This is a beautiful 140! Truly the last of the S Class series that looks like a luxury sedan.
