Carfax doesn't do as good of a job as you'd think...

Yea, I've noticed a couple things they missed on my 190E. Although they did catch that the car I was looking into was in an accident, and it had more owners them advertised.

RE: Carfax account

When I had my CarFax account, I ran a CarFax on my '98 Dodge truck. It listed it as a one owner with a simple title transfer from another state and no hail damage or accidents. The truck has had $2400 worth of hail damage and I'm the second owner.

There are threads around w/ horror stories about how incomplete CarFax reports are. In fact, I believe there are several law suits against CarFax for damages caused by their incomplete reports. When they charge $$$ to provide a cars history they need to do a better job of collecting the data, IMO. I know they have a lot of caveats on their reports now, but that's kind of like a business posting a sign saying they "are not responsible for lost items," etc. They still get sued successful for losses.
