With the Lorinser grille. I'm shocked. No one in Michigan mods their cars except for ricers.

RE: I saw a black E-Class...

What's it look like?

My grille still could still stand to be replaced...

It's the one on the wagon. I don't really like it because there's already so many round things in the front, no need for another big round thing in the middle.

211 Stretch

Couldn't find it, but in theory I agree with you about the front end.

The lights are the thing that's gonna date the E more than anything.

Found this though

Be rollin' 8 deep mah nigga!!! hehe I could vomit from it.

The lights do seem 'now' more than anything else on the automobile, but you've got to include the taillights in that as well-- those giant, bulbous things quite remind me a late neon's posterior.

That thing is an abomination! It'll be as classic as...

actually that 123 stretch works much better imho.

the 211 stretch reminds me of the Bentley Flying Spur which,
despite being an awesome car, isn't terribly pretty.

I don't normally look at cars I'll never buy, or be able to afford, but that Brooklands coupé is proof positive that Chrysler needs a 300C coupé. I know it's the worst kind of brand-dilution, to have your cars bastardized the way most 300 owners do, but it's selling product, no?

I'm of the mind that the Imperial(or Fifth Avenue) needs to be produced as well, maybe that would be a better choice for a premium statement. It's overwelmingly apparent that Ma MoPar is capable of designing quite amazing automobiles-- maybe Cerebus won't hold them down like the last owners.

Uh Oh!! We're off topic!!! Better move the thread!!!

The E taillights don't bother me a bit.  The 220 and 215 (pictured) are a problem for me.

In fact, the taillights are the only thing preventing me from picking up a 215 about now.

(Especially since their prices have come down what with the intro of the 216.)

That, and the fact that I don't fit very well into that gigantic coupe..

It's funny how the CL's headlights don't bother me a bit though,
and they're my single least-favorite exterior design aspect of the 211.

It's because MB left the shape alone.  They're ever-so-slightly elongated and streamlined, but not so much as the E.

As a result, the front end looks quite classic to my eye and I think it will age well.

I thought you drove the little coupé? Is it like the neon v. Mustang thing? Bigger on the outside; smaller on the inside?

I'm the perfect size to drive anything-- 4X4 chassis trucks to wee lil' neons Hoorah for being average!! Tall men, though... hahahaha

RE: I saw a black E-Class...

No I had a cabrio, which has been replaced by a cabrio of a different color..

Anyway the CLK has vastly more headroom than the CL, it makes no sense.

As I am nearly 6'-4" with my shoes on, this is a critical issue

Before anyone jumps in, yes cabrios do have generous headroom, with the top down

I'm suddenly looking at 2005 CL500s now that I see they can be had for $55K or so.

Of course (Animals, you here?) only the 600s and AMGs have the ventilated seats

RE: I saw a black E-Class...

Maybe if I back the car in everywhere I go, I'll be happy with a CL.

The front looks so much better than the rear.

Then, I should move this thread to the 215 forum??

I love the rear ends of the CL and S! They're so smooth flowing and sets the trunk off nicely. Even dead bodies should go in style.

BTW, you're not looking hard enough. Here 's an '04 with AVS.

RE: I saw a black E-Class...

I'm a coupé boy myself, but they've turned the market for these car into a neon or Viper choice-- there's been absolutely no middle ground for years, and now that they're making them again-- there's absolutely no demand.

The 5-Speed is the same thing. You buy the cheapest economy model, or the expensive limited-production model to get one. They're unavailable in the middle-market. I guess what this means to me is that I get the choice of a new cheap car, or a used car the same age as the car it's replacing. I hate it.

Those S/CL rear lights have been horribly tarnished by Honda's lifting their design. I can't look at the rather handsome MBs without thinking about that.

Looks like there are more '04s (on AutoTrader and eBayMotors) with AVS than '05s. I know you want them in the $50k range while still having a big chunk of the warranty remaining so I didn't post any '04s.

RE: I saw a black E-Class...

^^^well thanks, because the one you linked above is an '03 not an '04.

Plus, it's silver, which along with white is a color I won't consider.

Nice wheels though!

The ones I'm looking at have 20-25K miles, which I can live with.

You don't want someone's commuter car.. you want to buy from someone
who has 3 or 4 cars and drives it occasionally--not rarely but occasionally...
