If they build it....will they buy it?
Stuttgart/Kitzbuehel - Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that it plans to launch a small Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), the GLK in 2008. A spokesman said that the GLK would either be launched at the Detroit or the Geneva Motor Show, fitted with many components from the new C-Class such as the four and six cylinder engines.
Pictures taken of prototypes reveal a design similar to the bigger GL Class, rather than the M-Class.
Achim Parnow from the Mercedes design team said the shape was relatively squared with steep front, broad shoulder lines and dominant 20-inch wheels.
The GLK is the fifth Mercedes SUV in the line-up for next year that includes modifications for the current range. The R-Class features a second row of seats for three people. Seat combinations for five occupants, two, three, four, six or seven are possible.
Three new entry-level R-Class models are available * the R 280 CDI, the R 280 and the R 350 * all with V6 power units with rear- wheel drive and a choice of a short or long wheelbase.
In the M-Class the 2008 model year comes with the addition of a new engine. The 285 kW/388 hp model ML 500 4MATIC is equipped with the 5.5-litre V8 petrol unit, which increases the output by 82 hp compared to the preceding model, boosting the maximum torque from 460 to 530 newton metres.
The basic shape in the G class, which has remained more or less the same since 1979, has been retained. According to Mercedes the latest facelift mainly affects the interior, where a new instrument cluster provides a more up-to-date look.
A centrally located display for the driver, four analogue dial instruments with fine chrome bezels provide a clearly laid out information centre. The four-spoke multifunction steering wheel has also been redesigned.

these small suvs arent real mercedes anymore, its just what they offer so that rich germans can buy something for their housewives to drive to the grocery store, that still has a star on it....... |

Hahaha.....yup. That thing is so ugly it makes the X3 look good. I hope you work for MB so you feel obligated to write what you did, either that or you need to take a trip to the optometrist. Also you do know that an expansion tank is the same as a header tank and is in alot of cars?
