Nino Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: Part Nunber That is the switch over valve. Many times it can be cleaned out. Spray brake cleaner through it, and the lines too. On my '84 CD, it is bypassed. Just connect the two lines going to it together. One from the rear of exhaust manifold, the other to top of injection pump. I understand it's job is make sure the turbo does not overboost the engine. MB mechanics have mentioned not to worry about it. My long since sold '85 300 D's was bypassed also. I looked up the #0015407097 from here autohausaz.com I put in an '82, I've sold that one too, still in their system.

I am thinking to introduce it again as a protection. As i understood it blocked turbo bost in 16 psi . My turbo is regulated to 11 psi - so i believe ( 0,7 atm) , but who knows what can happen? It works in almost two other systems - Pics attached. Nino Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: Part Nunber Can't hurt to have it in your system, came from the factory like that. To me, it's an expense I can live without. These are pretty tough engines. Glad to hear this is one of your main concerns! Edited by Nino 7/10/2007 6:00 AM

But I have some other problems like leaks ( but all of lubrification oil), have some electrical problems and many adaptations that people made in those long 23 years. So i am understanding the engine and taking care of it. I have to disconect everyday my battery , so I must find the short circuit....thats it! But i am in love with 617A and very happy with the 300D long term restauration. Fernando

Nino Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: Part Nunber Tracking down elec. shorts can be difficult at best. Start with "adaptations", if you can tell where they are. Leaks are very common. I've grown quite fond of these engines myself!
