Time to contradict myself. A friend of ours, the one with the bagillions of dollars, drives a Honda Odyssey. But I have to admit, it's nice.

(sigh)

I guess they don't waste their time at places like this :-)

They are out adding to those $$$$$$

edit: and in my case not really friends - I am in the tech field in a really tech area, and am just casually acquainted with several folks who got their gold in the Dot Bomb boom :-)

Yeesh... in RL I'm always amazed at how much money there is rolling around.

All of the nice neighborhoods are empty b/c everyone has 5 houses and they're at one of their other ones..

(Meanwhile, yes, the Great Unwashed multiply...)

Article was a good read anyway.  Thanks.

When you get to a point where you know you have more money than the general population you tend to feel no need to brag. But when you have some people who a little more than the general population they like to flaunt it.

^^^That's actually pretty true.

Too much money = no need to brag.
A little more than average = bragging big time.

Hey, none of us are bragging. Does that we're uber rich, and have bagillions of dollars? Are the friends we speak of, ourselves?

RE: German Throwdown: BMW vs. Mercedes-Benz

It's really funny what people think of you. People think we are loaded but that is the furtherest from the truth. Are we successful? Yes. Are we comfortable? Yes. Are we rich?, No. We are simply good managers of money. I can do more with my paycheck than those who make 4 times as much can do with theirs. We work hard for what we have and when we want something, we get it, if it's within our means. We do not borrow money to buy cars nor do we carry credit card debt. We are debt free except for the house. The next car we buy, we'll pay cash for or we won't buy it. I'm saving now for another vehicle. In 3 to 5 years, we'll be able to buy a very nice SUV or sedan of some kind (probably MB). I don't brag and am not bragging because there's nothing to brag about. If I hear, "if I had your money, I'd . . ." one more time, I'll explode! I want to tell them, "you would be able to buy more with what you have if you quit playing the lottery every day, charging up credit card debt, carrying around a car loan and quit blowing it on useless crap".

I know people who ARE loaded and you wouldn't know it by the way they act. They drive older vehicles and spend money wisely. I've learned if we all mimick the way these guys live for a while, we'll be in the dough, just like them!

Didn't old Bill pay over $500,000 for that 1988 959? And the government says he can only drive it something like 2,000 miles a year.

How can the government tell you how many miles to drive?

As for me, if BMW offered a reliable diesel in the states, I'd consider it.

The 959, was never certified to be driven in the U.S. For some lame reason, they thought that Porsche might not be "safe" ie crash tests etc.

Sort of like when in the Indy series, Porsche had designed a carbon fibre race car, and the powers of of the indy series would not let them race it, saying it might be unsafe, yet in the year following, low and behold, the other teams were all sporting carbon fiber.

Well i don't like the V12 fuel compsumption. I rather the low spec because it's the same car.Nobody can notice it.

SL 73 is not available here though.I saw quiet number of SL600 and SL500 here but only small number of SL320 and SL280.
