That one definitely is nice! White is pretty much perfect for the W220. I did notice the wood steering wheel looked different, it's aftermarket I bet.

BTW, Cmitch, when and if you get serious about buying a 220, let me know as I have a lot of opinions on the topic.  Chief among them, I think the later models are considerably improved over the earlier ones.  Jeez I've said this before haven't I

Up until mid 2003, the wiring harnesses and airmatics were kind of hit and miss. I know when you run a carfax and it says "Electrical System Serviced" and "Suspension system serviced", it's a sure bet there's trouble. Even if it's broke down, it'd still look nice sitting low in the driveway, kind of like a Lamborghini does, even though they don't start half the time.

The steering wheel has the bumps at about 10:30 and 2:30. OEM W220 wood steering wheels don't have that. They're straight circular.

Well, the W140 and W220 production years did overlap between MY1998-2000.

Actually, I was referring to things like headlights and nav system, didn't know the wiring was an issue!

I've not seen it in threads before the main thing I've know about is airmatic.

RE: Sharp! 2001 S430

What is the difference btw Airmatic and ABC? B/C I have ABC and frankly it's nothing to write home about. IMHO, needless complexity for marginal benefit. Hey! A new MB advertising slogan!

Edit: oops typo!

Airmatic uses air, ABC uses hydraulics.

I thought they both used air just that ABC (auto body control) or something had extra options for stability control.

I don't think you'll notice much in normal driving. I think it's safe to assume you don't push the CL hard enough to notice the difference between Airmatic and ABC.

They both use air. Airmatic is semi-active, ABC is fully active. ABC also has hydraulic cylinders in the coil springs and pressurized gas shock absorbers. Or...we could go to MBUSA and they'll tell us the same thing.

"Active Body Control (ABC) ABC, an active suspension system, utilizes a coil spring and an electronically controlled hydraulic cylinder in series, plus a separate gas-pressurized shock absorber at each wheel. Using a total system pressure of up to 2,900 psi, ABC continually adjusts each wheel's suspension to counteract vibration, pitch, dive, squat, and roll. ABC also provides automatic 4-wheel level control, driver-selectable ride height, and automatic lowering at higher speed. View the interactive Feature Spotlight
