| "Inner" Grill
I was looking at a lot of the DIY pictures on various websites and through my owner's manual, there seems to be a plastic "inner" grill on all of the 210's I have seen, it's black and visible when the hood/bonnet is raised and has a cutout for the horn, I have a 2002 E320 but it doesn't have one, am I missing this piece or did the 02's not have one? |

as far as i know these grilles were over and done with in late 98 (after the minor facelift). the grille was ther eto protect your fingers from the 2 fans behind it. I also thought my car was missing them as my other 98 had them. then i thought it had somethign to do with spec (hot region) but i decoded my VIN and it turns out that both my 98 210's were the same spec too...
seems that MB decided that the 2nd set of fans was useless after they switched the internal fan from being crank/engine driven to electric in mid 98. |

That makes sense, my car doesn't have the "secondary" electric fans on the front face of the radiator, only the big electric one on the back side.
